‘Abdu’l-Bahá Speaking at Plymouth Congregational Church in Chicago on 5 May 1912
May 5, 1912
Plymouth Congregational Church
Chicago, IL
The Rector of the Plymouth Congregational Church, Dr Joseph A. Milburn, had seen ‘Abdu’l-Bahá several times and was greatly attracted to Him. After the customary service, the Rector introduced ‘Abdu’l-Bahá:
“Having heard of the teachings and the peerless qualities of’Abdu’l-Bahá, I arranged to leave for ‘Akka. Then I was informed that ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Himself, was coming to America. Now God has endowed us with a great blessing that ‘Abdu’l-Bahá has graced us with His presence here.”
The Rector then summarized the history and teachings of the Bahá’í Faith and introduced ‘Abdu’l-Bahá as the “Herald of Peace.”
