Lake Mohonk
On May 14, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá went to Lake Mohonk, a four-hour train ride north of New York, for the main meeting of the International Peace Society.
During the lectures earlier in the day, most of the delegates talked about materialistic matters such as the internal unity of countries. When ‘Abdu’l-Bahá began to speak about the unity of all the people of the world, the reformation of the whole world, and how the Manifestation of the Most Great Name would bring about the complete unity of the world, the audience was amazed, so much so that at the end of His twenty minutes, they requested that He continue. Being very tired, He apologized and prepared to leave. Before He could do so, all of the dignitaries and delegates came by to shake His hand and some embraced Him.
